OCD and the Correlation with Trauma

Session Details

OCD is a debilitating mental health disorder that has a strong stigma of being a disorder about "orderliness". Because of the lack of education on the disorder, many people are unaware that they or their loved ones are experiencing OCD and many therapists don't recognize the symptoms. In this workshop, you will learn what the common themes of OCD are and how to diagnose and treat them accordingly. We will learn which assessment tools to use and what the DSM-5 criteria are for diagnosing. The challenges of treating OCD will be examined and how to spot the warning signs for the disorder. We will also dive into the causes of OCD and how it relates to trauma. Finally, we will explore techniques through an interactive case study and a mock session where we will dissect one treatment method and utilize it based on the information.
